Alison Harris and her colleague, Nika Oberholster, Occupational Therapists and close colleagues of I.T.S  have developed the Ready to Learn kit for Spacekraft  in 2009.
It is based on the concept of introducing more sensory activity for children in mainstream classrooms. It was developed around the idea of Sensory Diets which are used for children who have sensory processing difficulties.

The kit contains activities for balancing and gentle spinning; finger fidgets to aid concentration; vibrating back rest for use on a classroom chair; air cushion for fidgeters – move on your seat while you work; theraband for shoulder stability work and much more.

The kit was put in for Practical Pre-School Awards 2009 and won gold.  Please refer to attached article;

Alison is presently working on a project supported by Spacekraft at Chapel en le Frith Primary School where four classes (Year one and Year Five) are testing out the kit and assessment is being made on how this is affecting the children’s ability to work and concentrate. Very positive feedback so far! More information will be posted shortly!

Please make contact with Alison should your school within the Midlands would be intersted in undertaking some project work 07917 332450.
