Alison Harris, Occupational Therapist anda closecolleague of I.T.Sco-wrote Start Write Stay Right with her colleague Janet Taylor. The book was published by Special Direct in 2007 and went on to win NASEN (National Association of Special Educational Needs) Teacher Book of the Year Award 2008. It was judged to be of great benefit to a wide range of children.
Start Write Stay Right is a complete handwriting approach for children which works on the basis that firm foundations need to be established and good basic skills need to be in place before a child can work on functional and fluent handwriting.
The programme works on developing core stability, shoulder strength, basic fine motor skills and early pencil skills (for colouring and other non literacy activities) before the child is able to fully engage in the very complex skills of handwriting.
We are please to announce that Alison Harris will be offering Individual therapy sessions on Start Write Stay Right skills at the I.T.S clinicwith the aim of improving handwriting skills as the end result of developing basic skills first.
A highly positive approach to build confidence and fill gaps which may have been missed in the ordinary classroom process of learning to write. All aged children/teenagers acceptable.
Please contact Alison Harris directly for more information about these sessions; 07917 332450.
