Here at Integrated Treatment Services we are supporting No Pens Day 2012! No Pens Day was originally part of the Hello! Campaign, which was a component of the National Year of Communication. Such was the success of No Pens Day last year that it is being repeated this year on October 10th 2012 . The idea of No Pens Day is to plan lessons that support language development by focusing on listening and speaking activities. The really great thing about No Pens Day is that the Communication Trust Website is packed with lesson plans and resources to use in the classroom. Even if your school is not able to take part in No Pens Day this year, why not visit the website in the future and look through the resources. Communication is everybody’s business, and there’s never a bad time to put these essential skills at the top of the agenda for our children.

At Integrated Treatment Services we are always working collaboratively with parents, carers, teachers and other health professionals in order to ensure that developing communication skills is at the top of everybody’s agenda. We communicate in so many different ways, and often those with little or no verbal skills can benefit from the opportunity to show just how well they can communicate with us non verbally and through play. Communication skills are essential in helping a child to develop other essential skills in the classroom such as numeracy and behaviour. Communication is now a feature of Ofsted, by looking at how a school’s teaching approach supports the development of language skills.

So why not join Integrated Treatment Services in putting down your pens and picking up language!

If you think that your child, relative or friend may benefit from speech and language therapy or associated therapies, Integrated Treatment Services could be of help. Contact us here: https://integratedtreatmentservices.co.uk/contact-us/enquiry
