We will also involve our colleagues from other disciplines such as Occupational Therapy, on a needs led basis. Dr. Sophia Mooncey

Paediatric Consultant

Dr. Sophia Mooncey is a Consultant Community Paediatrician with over 20 years experience. Her experience ranges from newborn intensive care to neurodevelopmental follow up and teenagers with behavioural problems. Dr Mooncey understands the impact of diagnoses that have a lifelong effect on families and is keen to provide the best support  for these children and their families.

Dr. Mooncey is involved in emotional and behavioural disorder clinics, assessing and diagnosing Autism, Asperger’s syndrome, Tourette’s, ADHD, feeding difficulties, obesity etc. Dr Mooncey also performs developmental assessments for ex preterms, those with learning difficulties, epilepsy, sleep difficulties and global developmental delay. She also provides support for families and schools, for those children with special needs. She carries out medical examinations for child protection, developmental assessments and adoptions (Dr Mooncey is a medical adviser for the Luton Panel).

Dr. Clare Boorn

Educational Psychologist

I am a Chartered Educational Psychologist with more than sixteen years’ experience of working with families and young people.

I have extensive experience of working with special educational needs, assessing IQs and identifying specific learning difficulties (dyslexia, dyspraxia, etc.).

I work with children and young people who are experiencing difficulty in learning and developing. I also advise parents, school, teachers, or courts on educational, need including emotional health and well-being.

My areas of specialism are in: Autism, Mental Health- Self harm, Depression, Anxiety, Emotional Literacy, and Positive Psychology, Children in care, Attachment, Relationships and Resilience.

I have been a Senior Practitioner Educational Psychologist, working part time within a Psychology Service, for a Local Authority over a 15 year period. My specialist role was in autism including delivering training and undertaking link work. I was also a supervisor to trainee Educational Psychologists.

I undertake instructions as an expert witness. I prepare comprehensive psychological assessments and Medico Legal reports for a wide range of proceedings on autism, special educational needs and traumatic brain injury. I work with case management, insurers and rehabilitation companies providing both medico-legal reports and more condensed assessments.

Helen Dunn

Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Helen specialises in the field of Autism and is a guest lecturer at De Montfort University lecturing Paediatric Learning disability and Autism. She has experience of working in a variety of settings including community clinics, Special needs schools, autism provisions, pre-school and school age Autism diagnostic services. Helen particularly enjoys training others and has provided training for a range of professionals and parents.

Helen is a team player who appreciates the need for Multi Professional Team work. Helen has worked in a number of teams that were nominated for special achievement awards, showing Helen’s dedication to team work particularly involving changes around service delivery. Partnership Award 2011 and Shining through Award 2013 both receiving Highly commended and winning Clinical Team of the year (Paediatrics Complex needs speech and language therapy service 2009).


Dr. Helen Davies

Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist

BSc(Hons), PsychD, CPsychol, AFBPsS

Helen is a committed and experienced Clinical Psychologist, working in both the NHS, for over 12 years, and independent practice.  Helen is currently the lead for a Paediatric Clinical Psychology Service at a local Hospital and Child Development Service.  Helen offers highly specialist and complex assessment and intervention work to children, young people, families and adults with neurodevelopmental disorders, chronic health problems and mental health difficulties.  She enjoys working within a bio-psycho-social framework using evidence-based approaches, particularly third wave cognitive behavioural therapies, helping clients to build on their own skills and strengths. She is particularly interested in specialist Autistic Spectrum Assessments and enjoys undertaking cognitive/neuropsychological assessments.

Helen values working with multidisciplinary colleagues to offer best practice assessment and interventions, which are highly individualised.  She offers psychosocial consultation, including regular meetings with medical teams and supervises other clinical psychologists within her team.  Helen offers training placements for final year clinical psychology trainees.  She is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire and supervises doctoral research projects.
